Mano a Mano provides holistic support to the weavers and their families by offering education programs, professional development, and health workshops. Our program focuses on providing opportunities for continued professional growth through workshops and training programs, as well as access to education support that could mean the difference between finishing one’s studies with a diploma in hand and dropping out early.

 

Mano a Mano’s goal in 2020 is to further expand our capacity-building program so more women in the community have access to employment. By focusing on economic opportunities through skills building, we can affect the education, health, and political rights of our community. Our program will also involve monthly health and financial literacy workshops for the weavers

March 2020 update: As some confirmed cases of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) grow in Guatemala and travel restrictions are put in place, we at Cojolya Association of Maya Women Weavers will do our best to follow all the precautions necessary to mitigate the spread of disease. We’ll be reducing store hours and asking all employees and artisans to work from home. Our scheduled workshops and tours for this month have been canceled. The coming weeks will be telling here in Guatemala, especially in Santiago Atitlan and other lakeside communities that rely heavily on tourism, but this is something we must do together. The work of our artisans is in jeopardy as sales decrease, so we ask that you please consider donating so we can help support our association through these unsure times.
